Cub Scout Pack 28 serves boys and girls in Kindergarten through 5th grades and their families. Our Pack draws largely from the Moses Y Beach, Rock Hill, EC Stevens, and Pond Hill Elementary School communities of Wallingford, CT, but also includes youth from other area schools and nearby towns. We are part of the Quinnipiac District of the Connecticut Yankee Council, a unit of the Scouting America organization.
The Aims of the Scouting program are Character, Citizenship, Personal Fitness, and Leadership. Cub Scouting is a positive place where children can enjoy safe, wholesome activities, pursue community service, and explore outdoor adventure.
The Pack is composed of all Scouts and Scout families. Scouts are organized into Dens and identified by their rank. A Den is made up of youth of the same grade in school, along with a Den Leader and one or more Assistant Den Leaders. Throughout the year, Dens work together on age-appropriate advancements and Scouting skills.
If you have never been part of Scouting before, it can be difficult to catch up on all the terminology. This short video answers the top five questions new parents had about Cub Scouting when they first joined.
Pack 28 generally meets at least twice per month. Pack meetings run typically 1-2 hours, although special activities may be of longer duration.
Meetings are held on Sundays at 1:00 PM at the Wallingford Parks & Recreation building.
Scouts are organized in Dens based on their age and work on age-appropriate lessons during each rank.
Children may enter Cub Scouts at any rank! A 3rd grade child may enter the program to work on a Bear rank without previously being a Cub Scout.
